Charles French encountered the Internet for the first time when he looked like this.

In 1995 a friend showed him the World Wide Web. Within a day Charles exclaimed “I WANT A WEBPAGE OF MY OWN” He then began using the “view source” option and within a week knew enough to build his first webpage on GeoCities, where it remains today at http://www.geocities.com/WestHollywood/1937/ which is occasionally (but rarely) updated.

All of this occurred when Charles looked like this.

We skip forward a few years, wherein Charles used his geocities page to publish his poetry (which has also been twice published in Citadel), during this time many things happened and much happiness and hilarity ensued.

In 1999 http://www.charlesfrench.com went live as a single camera webcam site. It was soon expanded to two, and ultimately three cameras. This is what things were like then.

Due to an aligning of the planets and a bizarre obsession with his beloved Basset Hound, Hudson, this quickly became one of the most popular webcam sites on the Internet. Charles was actually, kinda, sorta famous, in a really weird, creepy way that only the Internet could produce. Yes, his eyes are really that green, he is teh sexxay!

Around this time he looked like this.

Alas, as life happens, good and bad things occur…. In 2001, some horrible things happened and in late 2001, http://www.charlesfrench.com went dark. Because the site had a massive amount of traffic, it was quickly snapped up by squatters.

Charles retreated for a while, his dotcom absconded with, and a number of other things all going wrong at precisely the wrong moment, Charles left his beloved adopted home of West Hollywood, CA and moved back east, to New Jersey, Kearny to be specific to live with family and begin to rebuild what was lost.

He eventually wandered back to the Internet and acquired charlesfrench.net. He didn’t do anything with that though he thought he might at the time, it just never materialized.

In 2007 when Charles looked relatively close to this.

He came up with an idea for a site, and you dear reader have arrived at that most logical of conclusions. That this is the right site, in the right place, and at the right time.
